(Macau, 12 October 2025) As a prelude to the SJM Macao Open 2025, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), the title sponsor and co-organizer of the tournament, held the “SJM Macao Open 2025 Community Golf Fun Day” on 12 October at the Ponte 16 Outdoor Plaza. The event featured Hong Kong golf star Taichi Kho and local Macao player Kelvin Si Ngai, whose expert guidance and interactive activities introduced the sport to the community and enhanced public interest in the golf.

A history-making figure in Hong Kong golf, Taichi Kho became in 2023 the first Hong Kong player to win on the Asian Tour and capture an Asian Games gold medal. Local Macao player, Kelvin Si Ngai turned professional before the SJM Macao Open last year and has participated in Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship six times. Their presence quickly became the highlight of the day. The golfers interacted closely with participants from local schools, sharing their career journeys and patiently guiding them through chipping drills, demonstrating the fundamentals of the sport.
Taichi Kho remarked, “It is especially meaningful for me to return to Macao and share the joy of golf with the participants here. The sport has helped me appreciate the importance of perseverance and focus, and I hope to pass these values on to more people.”

Kelvin Si commented, “Sharing my passion for golf with young aspiring players reminds me of the journey I’ve taken in this sport. I believe that golf teaches us valuable lessons in discipline and perseverance, and I hope to inspire these students to embrace the game and all that it offers. Together, we can cultivate a love for golf that lasts a lifetime.”
The day generated an enthusiastic turnout, with participants actively engaging in three featured golf challenges. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as attendees shared in the joy of the sport. At the putting challenge, crowds gathered to watch intently, with each successful putt sparking rounds of applause and spreading excitement across the venue.

The chipping zone was equally lively, as attendees took turns testing their accuracy amid cheers from the audience. The golf simulator experience area drew many young sport-tech enthusiasts who tested their skills on virtual international courses and experienced a professional competition setting.SJM’s mascot, “Sam the Rooster,” dressed in golf attire, made a surprise appearance and posed for group photos with guests of honour and participants.

SJM also prepared gift packs for participants, including SJM Macao Open 2025 sports towels, tote bags, hand fans and sun hats, encouraging them to take part in sports and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. The crowd’s excitement was evident, as the opportunity to learn directly from professional golfers deepened their understanding of the sport and encouraged them to approach new challenges with greater confidence.
The “SJM Macao Open 2025 Community Golf Fun Day” not only offered diverse sporting experiences for the community, it also continued SJM’s commitment to promoting golf and deepening its popularisation. SJM will continue to stage a variety of international sports events, injecting new momentum into the integration of “Sports + Tourism,” and helping to reinforce Macau’s reputation as a “City of Sports”.
